How to Keep Your Pet’s Ears Clean and Healthy
Keeping your pet’s ears clean is one of the most important parts of regular pet care—but it’s also one that many owners forget. Dogs and cats can easily get wax buildup, trapped dirt, or moisture that may lead to itching or infections. Here’s how to keep their ears healthy and comfortable.
1. Check your pet’s ears regularly.
Look inside your pet’s ears once or twice a week. Healthy ears should be pink, clean, and odor-free. If you notice a bad smell, redness, or your pet keeps scratching its ears, it’s time for a cleaning.
2. Use a gentle pet ear cleaner.
Never use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide—they can dry and irritate the ear canal. Instead, use a gentle pet ear cleaner made with safe ingredients like deionized water and glycerin. Apply 3–4 drops, massage the base of the ear, and wipe the excess with a cotton pad.
3. Keep the ears dry after baths or swimming.
Moisture trapped in the ears can cause bacterial growth. After bathing or swimming, gently dry your pet’s ears with a soft towel.
4. Make it part of your grooming routine.
Cleaning your pet’s ears once or twice a week keeps them healthy, reduces itching, and prevents infections. It only takes a minute—but makes a big difference in your pet’s comfort!
